Web Literacy

If you have any suggestions, please post your comments about the training at Cy Falls on Web Literacy from today. I am doing this training again in August and I appreciate your feedback!

On the surface, I will be adding tinyurl.com, RSS feeds, and Google Reader to the presentation. I also plan to extend the time to explore in the Way Back Machine and some other parts of the presentation. Some other suggestions that were made were to move the Google account creating to early in the morning so that participants would have time to receive the email verification and be able to follow in the afternoon.

Just some thoughts; definitely more to think about. What did you wish you had with you today to make your experience better? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Glogster

Some information I'm relaying from a colleague, Kara Stucky! Thanks for your contribution, Kara!

Teacher’s Websites on Glogster:
Using Glogster in the Classroom
Glogster EDU – Create Digital Posters to Share With The World
Glogs: Virtual Online Posters

Sample Assignment using Glogster:
• Choose a concept that we have covered this year in math class.
• Use your textbook and the internet to find information about your topic.
• Then use video, images, links, and text to share this information in Glogster.
• Make sure to list sources used (a sticker works well for this).

Other Assignment Ideas:
• Have the students research a topic from the list below and then use Glogster to display their findings.

o A math vocabulary term
o A Famous Mathematician
o Real world use of a math concept
o A profession that uses math
